Reflect, Celebrate, Reset: Why Now Is the Perfect Time to Plan for 2026

As mums in business, we’re very good at doing…

Running the business.

Looking after the kids.

Keeping all the plates spinning.

What we’re not so good at?

Stopping. Reflecting. And celebrating our wins.

As the year comes to a close, now is the perfect time to pause, look back at everything you’ve achieved (yes, you), and start thinking about where you want your business to go next. Not from a place of pressure but from clarity.

Step One: Reflect on the Year You’ve Had

Before you start thinking about goals, planners and shiny new ideas for 2026, it’s important to look back.

Ask yourself:

  • What worked well in my business this year?
  • What didn’t work and why?
  • Where did I feel most confident?
  • Where did I feel overwhelmed or stuck?
  • What did I learn about myself as a business owner?

Reflection isn’t about judging yourself or focusing on what you didn’t do. It’s about understanding what moved the needle, what drained your energy, and what you want more (or less) of going forward.

Even the tough moments have value they show you what needs to change.

Step Two: Celebrate Your Success (Even the Small Ones)

This is the bit most women skip… but it might be the most important.

Success doesn’t have to mean:

  • A six-figure year
  • Going viral
  • Having everything “figured out”

Success can look like:

  • Finally launching something you’ve been putting off
  • Getting consistent clients
  • Showing up on social media even when it felt uncomfortable
  • Learning a new system or tool
  • Balancing business and family a little better

If you don’t acknowledge your wins, your brain stays in “not enough” mode and that’s a hard place to plan from.

So celebrate it. Write it down. Be proud of it. You earned it.

Step Three: Look Ahead With Intention, Not Overwhelm

Once you’ve reflected and celebrated, then it’s time to look forward.

2026 planning doesn’t need to be complicated or overwhelming. You don’t need a 50-page business plan or colour-coded spreadsheets (unless that’s your thing!).

Start simple:

  • What do I want my business to feel like next year?
  • How many days do I realistically want to work?
  • What income feels supportive, not stressful?
  • What systems or support would make life easier?

This is where intention comes in. Instead of reacting and firefighting, you’re choosing how you want your business to run.

Step Four: Set Yourself Up With Systems

One of the biggest reasons mums in business feel overwhelmed is because everything lives in their head.

Planning for 2026 is the perfect time to ask:

  • What can be automated?
  • What can be simplified?
  • What can be outsourced?

Whether that’s email marketing, booking systems, social media workflows or admin putting the right systems in place now saves you so much time and mental load later.

Future-you will thank you.

You’re Allowed to Want More and Easier

Reflecting, celebrating and planning isn’t about being “more productive”.

It’s about building a business that supports you your family, your energy, and your life.

So take the time. Celebrate how far you’ve come.

And start planning for a 2026 that feels aligned, calm and sustainable.

If you’d love support with systems, structure or getting clear on your next steps, you don’t have to do it alone. Sometimes a little support makes everything feel lighter.
